Aras an Phiarsaigh, Trinity College

Trinity College purchased the former Government Tax Offices in 1992 and Moloney O’Beirne were asked to refurbish the existing office block and provide teaching and academic facilities for the School of Business Studies and the Department of Philosophy.

A new brick box has been wrapped around the existing office block which is then clad in a contrasting wall of glass. Pearse Street changes direction at the School of Business Studies and this allowed us to align the brick box with the Georgian Streetscape to the East of the site. The entrance to the building is from the College itself and we designed a serpentine shaped concourse to act as a foil for the angular geometry of the adjoining buildings.
