Lissadell House & Demesne

Moloney O'Beirne were appointed in 2004 as architects for the restoration of Lissadell House and Demesne. An excellent example of Greek Revival Architecture, the house was designed by Francis Goodwin for Robert Gore Booth in 1833. A comprehensive topographical, photographical and condition survey of the entire demesne, including out-houses and gardens was prepared in consultation with specialist advisors. This formed the basis of a Conservation Plan which was used to seek funding for the restoration programme.

Proposal for the Demesne included the refurbishment of the main house, the conversion of the stable yard into a Visitors Centre and individual houses into lettable residential units. Planning Permission was secured and the works are being completed on a phased basis. The heating of the house has been a major design issue and proposals for the introduction of a Geo-thermal heating source and warm air systems have been submitted for approval.
