Newtown School
The project involves the redevelopment of Newtown School, an existing post-primary school, to provide modern teaching accommodation for a long-term Projected Enrolment (LTPE) of 600 students. The existing shared campus shall be re-organised and extended to create an integrated and cohesive contemporary educational facility, which compliments the historic architecture and natural setting of the school.
The project calls for a Masterplan development of the campus comprising a significant expansion to existing school buildings, a Physical Educational Hall Facility and Special Educational Needs Suite well as the appropriate refurbishment of heritage buildings for educational use. The Moloney O’Beirne proposal aims to recognise the historic Campus and permit the co-existence of teaching and boarding functions in a satisfactory arrangement providing a framework for future development of the school. New teaching, sports and recreational facilities shall be appropriately integrated with the existing composition of buildings so as to provide for a shared operation and management structure. Additionally, construction phasing has been carefully planned to ensure least possible disruption to the existing school.
